We would like to congratulate one of our employees, Bethany Gentry. She received The American FFA Degree at the 95th National FFA Convention and Expo.

The American FFA degree is the highest degree achievable in the National FFA Organization. Obtaining the American FFA Degree shows an FFA member’s dedication to their chapter and state FFA association. Members that receive the American FFA Degree have shown outstanding leadership abilities and community involvement throughout their FFA career.

The following qualifications for the American FFA Degree:

  • Receiving state FFA degree
  • Being an active FFA member for at least 3 years
  • Completing secondary instruction in an agricultural education program
  • Operating an outstanding supervised agricultural experience program
  • Community service involvement
  • Leadership abilities
  • Outstanding scholastic achievement

I have been a member of Broadway FFA for four years and have been able to serve as a chapter officer for two years. My supervised agricultural experience while in FFA was raising boer goats, showing market goats, and breeding a hereford cow. I spent many hours with my livestock making sure they were healthy for breeding season and getting my show animals ready for their upcoming market shows.

FFA has played an important role in my life by teaching me how important it is to be a leader. I have been able to improve on my leadership skills and my knowledge of agriculture. Being a part of FFA has given me the opportunity to travel to many places and meet new people. I have had the opportunity to compete in many competitions like livestock judging, dairy judging, meat judging, milk quality, poultry judging, public speaking, parliamentary procedure, and many more. Competing in these competitions has given me the ability to win the state competitions with my team and compete at the national level in Indiana. I am extremely thankful for my FFA advisors and the way they have mentored me and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. I will forever cherish my time in FFA and remember all the skills and memories FFA has allowed me to have. I have been absolutely honored to obtain the American FFA Degree.
